As part of the EU4Dual Grand Challenge on Healthy Living, PAR University of Applied Sciences hosted a dedicated session on supporting dual careers in professional athletes. The event featured PAR alumni and sports professionals who shared their personal experiences of balancing academic commitments with demanding athletic careers. Their insights reflected both the challenges and advantages of combining competitive sport with structured academic paths. Many alumni emphasised the importance of time management, tailored support from faculty, and access to international opportunities through programmes like Erasmus+. For them, the dual model proved essential in preparing for life after sport, offering not just a degree but also perspective and purpose. Through open conversation, participants discussed the importance of flexible learning models and the supportive role institutions play in helping athletes succeed – both on and off the field. The discussion also opened space for a broader reflection on mental well-being and healthy lifestyle habits among students. Speakers encouraged young people to stay physically active, noting growing concerns over inactivity and obesity among youth on a national level. Promoting health-conscious routines, self-discipline and emotional balance was highlighted as a key part of personal and academic success, whether in professional sport or everyday student life.
