The rector’s council announces the adoption of the common dual model for higher education

During meetings held on 17th and 18th June, rectors from the 9 EU4Dual universities met in Koszalin and were updated on developments linked to the ongoing development of the EU4Dual Alliance. 

They also adopted an internationalisation strategy based around the offer of trans-national learning and exchange opportunities via multi-lingual offerings including micro-credentials, work-based learning mobilities, staff mobilities, short mobilities and joint degrees.

A very dynamic EU4Dual Staff Week has been held on the Future of Work

From 13 to 17 May, FH JOANNEUM hosted its first International Staff Week as part of EU4DUAL. The theme of the week was “Future of Work”, which is also one of the three Grand Challenges of EU4DUAL. They welcomed 21 participants from 11 countries to Austria and enjoyed five days of workshops, company visits and cultural activities.

The first EU4DUAL International Staff Week was held from 22 to 29 February in Kuopio, Finland, in the facilities of our Alliance partners at the Savonia University of Applied Sciences.

44 participants from 16 different nationalities took part in this enriching event, which was organised for staff from the 9 Alliance partner universities as well as from any other institution. Thanks to this open approach, participants from Costa Rica, China, Kosovo and Ukraine also joined the week.

In order to serve as a kick-off event for one of the major challenges that the EU4DUAL Alliance aims to address: Green Economy.

With key milestones to be achieved during 2024, EU4Dual is already a fully operational entity

During a meeting held on 5th and 6th February at FH Joanneum in Graz, Rectors from the 9 EU4Dual universities have convened to take stock of progress in building the European Dual Studies University. Building on this early momentum, 2024 will see two milestones for the Alliance:

EU4Dual will launch its course catalogue, giving opportunities to study with the alliance for the first time. 5 Joint Masters Degrees, and over 120 micro-credentials are in various stages of planning, with the first masters degree a tranche of 50 micro-credentials and a Summer & Winter School due to launch in time for next September.
April will see the organisation of the first European dual studies conference on the 10th and 11th, in Paola, Malta. With over 50 papers submitted and over 200 participants registered at this time, the conference will bring academics, policymakers and business together to set the agenda for the sector.
