Challenges in creating pedagogical materials for the industrial environment

Industry 4.0 is transforming manufacturing — and training must keep pace. We explore the challenges of designing pedagogical materials for industrial operators: from knowledge gaps and time constraints, to language barriers and resistance to new technologies.
Innovative training materials — IoT integrated into composite material manufacturing

IoT is reshaping composite manufacturing — but are engineers ready? We look at new training materials designed to bridge the gap between telecommunications and mechanical engineering students, using real-world industrial applications as the learning context.
What gap analysis reveals — operators’ needs in the Industry 4.0 era

Gap analysis is a powerful tool for industrial transition. We examine what it reveals about operators’ skill needs as manufacturers move from machine automation to connected, data-driven systems — and why training design must follow.
EU4DUAL Entrepreneurial Winter School 2024

The Winter School involved 70 participants from ESTIA, Savonia, and MU, including 8 student-entrepreneurs presenting start-up market studies. The event fostered collaboration among students and professionals from EU4DUAL partners, emphasizing intercultural and intergenerational exchange. ESTIA’s entrepreneurial task force played a key coaching role. The connection of several entrepreneurs to the MOB’E international mobility program reinforced the strong link between entrepreneurship, education, and mobility within EU4DUAL.
First EU4Dual Partner Labs Internship Exchange

As part of the EU4Dual alliance, ESTIA welcomed Margarita, a student from Savonia University of Applied Sciences, for the alliance’s first research internship exchange. Hosted by ESTIA’s Research Department, Margarita contributed to the development and deployment of a device designed for optimizing water irrigation systems, combining technical innovation with sustainability-focused research. The experience marked a significant milestone for cross-border student mobility and international research cooperation.
Entrepreneurial Mobility Journey of Romane Forment

Romane Forment, an ESTIA engineering student and self-employed entrepreneur, participated in the EU4DUAL entrepreneurial mobility pilot in early 2024. Supported by both the Savonia Business Incubator and ESTIA Entreprendre, Romane developed her venture with dual mentorship, gaining international experience in two distinct entrepreneurial ecosystems. Her success showcases the alliance’s commitment to integrating dual education with entrepreneurship, leading to Romane becoming a fully incubated entrepreneur.
Questioning our learning process through engineering integrating a sustainability approach

This initiative designs educational content according to a defined set of specifications, with the aim of improving the learning process for both students and teachers. In this context, we integrate environmental and social considerations from the very beginning of the instructional design process. The objective is to create a coherent set of teachings delivered through various formats, fostering a new generation of engineers focused on the green economy and sustainable innovation.
Building Micro-Grid Demonstrator at ESTIA

ESTIA has developed a Smart Building demonstrator at the ESTIA Berri campus featuring 314 photovoltaic panels covering 608m² with 127 kWc production capacity. Launched in 2023, this micro-grid aims to reduce the campus’s energy bill and carbon footprint while serving as an open platform for research in renewable energy integration. The building showcases ESTIA’s EnerGEA technological platform and fosters collaboration with laboratories and industry partners in electrical engineering and renewable energy.
