AI in Dual Higher Education: Digital Transformation, Pedagogical Innovation and Human Agency

As artificial intelligence continues to transform education, work and society, dual and cooperative higher education has a unique role to play. By connecting academic learning with work-based learning, dual higher education provides an ideal space to explore how AI can support pedagogical innovation while keeping human agency, ethical reflection and institutional responsibility at the centre.

This issue aims to examine how AI can reshape teaching, learning and work-based learning in ways that are innovative, responsible and aligned with the values of dual higher education. Contributions may address the opportunities, challenges and implications of AI for students, educators, companies, institutions and policy-makers.

Topics of interest

The ESJ DHE welcomes submissions including, but not limited to:

  • Empirical and comparative studies
  • Theoretical and conceptual contributions
  • Innovative case studies and practice reports
  • Policy and system-level analyses

Submissions may explore questions such as how AI can enhance learning experiences, support collaboration between universities and companies, transform assessment and feedback, or strengthen ethical and reflective practices in dual education contexts.
