Main:<\/strong> During the EU4DUAL 2025 Conference, there was a Blended Short-term Mobility – Sustainable Industry Mobility Week for students from the nine partner universities. One activity was the 24-hour innovation challenge, which brought together students from different backgrounds to work on real-world problems. Eleven students from MCAST’s Institute of Business Management and Commerce and Institute of Engineering and Transport took part in this intense and exciting experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MCAST participants described the 24-hour innovation challenge as the highlight of the whole event. Many praised its unique mix of creativity, teamwork and practical problem-solving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Spiteri explained how the challenge pushed participants to quickly develop a random idea into a sustainable project. “The excitement of brainstorming and creating something meaningful under time pressure was an incredible learning experience,” she said. She was proud that her team won a prize – an achievement that brought pride to both her team and MCAST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Cassar highlighted the real-world importance of the challenge, particularly how speaking with company representatives gave valuable insights. “Working across language barriers taught me new ways to collaborate and helped me understand better how companies overcome challenges,” he shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Portelli found the challenge demanding but highly rewarding. “Working with students from different universities, doing thorough research, and giving a short presentation to a large audience was thrilling. Despite the short timeframe, the experience improved my creativity, resilience and ability to work well under pressure.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Buttigieg celebrated the multicultural teamwork at the heart of the challenge. “Our diverse group tackled urgent sustainability issues, encouraging innovative problem-solving. It was satisfying to create practical solutions addressing urgent environmental and educational challenges.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
