Designing training for industrial operators is harder than it looks. Time pressure, language barriers, and resistance to new technology all shape what is possible — and what works.
Key challenges identified:
- Knowledge gaps are often too large for standard training to bridge
- Operators’ schedules leave little room for structured learning
- Fear of job displacement can create resistance to new technologies
- Training must work in local languages and adapt to different operator profiles
ESTIA developed pedagogical materials for eight operator profiles across two industrial sites, as part of the FlashCOMP project. A 24-hour academic version — suitable for university courses — will be available under a Creative Commons licence from October 2026.
