EU4Dual European university alliance launches in Kuopio, Finland

Today, nine European multi-disciplinary universities or universities of applied sciences met in Kuopio Finland to launch a new European Higher Education institution – the European Dual Education University. The collaboration launched today will become the global top-quality reference for Dual Education. It will form the largest integrated Dual- Education institution in the world – a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary institution, committed to close integration between academia, industry and regions., which produces expertise for the future needs of working life and solves global challenges in cooperation with students and working life.
Rectors from each of the nine institutions have today initialled the cooperation agreements, and approved the first year of the work plan. With a budget of €14 million from the European Commission this consists of the largest investment in promoting trans-national dual education. The new institution will initially focus on solving societal grand challenges linked to the future of work, green economy and healthy living. Over the next 4 years, it will launch a suite of dual degree programmes, micro-credentials and research initiatives linked to these topics. All of these will be characterised by intense cooperation between academia and business, bringing new opportunities for innovation, development and regional development.
